Behind
Spoken Wines

Twenty-five years of visits, conversations, and bottles opened across the world's wine regions.

We travel the world to find unique stories and excellent wines so you don't have to…

About Us

For over twenty-five years, Jan and Tammy have traveled the world by wine region, not on press trips or guided tours, but on their own terms: visiting growers, sitting with winemakers, returning to the same places year after year.

Jan has a background in horticulture, so he's reading soil, elevation, and climate before he ever reads a label. Tammy has spent years writing about wine for national publications, and it shows in how she listens to a winemaker's story. Together, they notice what most visitors miss.

Spoken Wines began with a moment in South Africa: an old winery, an extraordinary glass, and the sense that these stories needed telling. Their daughters, RoAnne and Janelle, have helped turn that idea into the brand it is today.

We believe exceptional wines come from great:

People

Place

Culture

Behind every great wine is someone who made a decision: to plant here, to pick now, to let it rest longer. We go to the source. We sit with winemakers, walk the rows with growers, and ask the questions that don't make it onto the back label. That relationship is what makes a bottle mean something.
